A reinterpretation of classics through subtle movements – a detail, texture, the silhouette – that creates new objects, in which the memory of the model evolves, changes, and adapts. At the head of T Factory, Creative Director Walter Chiapponi continues to work on Tod’s lifestyle, proposing a personal and spontaneous interpretation which focuses on manual skills as the key feature that defines and characterizes the collections. It is a dexterity that enhances the sartorial but relaxed allure on clothing, while on accessories it becomes customization.
The Men’s pre-collection combines opposite worlds and types of masculinity, in a face-off between convention and rebellion, pragmatism and individualism. The contrast stitching on parkas, duster coats, polo shirts and trousers keeps a utility feel which is enhanced by the choice of a single colour and material for the entire outfit, as if it were a uniform. Quilted field jackets, as well as jackets with leather patch pockets, are a nod to field sports. The silhouette becomes lean in the leather blousons, pea coats and tailored jackets worn over skinny trousers with the attitude of an Italian urban cowboy. The same theme runs throughout the accessories: loafers and brogues with thick soles, sneakers made from multiple materials, tapered ankle boots.
The Women’s pre-collection explodes bourgeois bon ton in a counterpoint of eclectic contradictions. The gingham checked overcoat has a shiny, lacquered finish, or has an oversized collar covered in pins which also embellish the beret. The silhouette is tapered, optically extended by the long stovepipe pants that graze the floor under the cone heels of pointed-toe shoes. Blazers have relaxed volumes and a sartorial feel. The skinny-fitting blousons are mixed with airy, graphic shirts. The handmade skill reaches a new peak in the patchwork jumpers which are blended threads, stitches and colours. The gesture of customization is notable in the accessories: loafers with multiple straps, or charms that decorate the archive T Timeless; softly constructed bags with contrasting bandages on the shoulder strap and bucket bags. Sturdy boots and Chelsea boots add an equestrian feel.
Signs and meanings mix, following the boldness of instinct.
