On February 22, 2024, a devastating fire broke out in Brgy. Cogon, Ormoc City, causing significant damage to homes and impacting hundreds of individuals and businesses. Thanks to the swift and heroic efforts of Ormoc City firefighters and other fire brigades, the fire was contained and extinguished without any casualties. However, the fire heavily impacted 58 households, leaving many with little to nothing.
In response to this tragedy, M Lhuillier’s Cogon Ormoc branch, under the leadership of Regional Manager Grace L. de Gracia, took immediate action. Mobilizing teams and organizing a donation drive for relief operations, M Lhuillier demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the community.
On February 28, 2024, M Lhuillier successfully distributed relief goods to the fire victims at the Brgy. Cogon gymnasium. Families received essential items such as mats, towels, alcohol, bath soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, sanitary pads, shampoo, detergent powder, tissue, and a pack of medicine. The aim was to offer comfort and promote hygiene during this challenging period.
“We understand the importance of providing immediate relief and ensuring that the affected families have the necessary items to maintain their hygiene and health,” said Grace L. de Gracia. “In times of crisis, it is crucial for communities to come together and support one another. M Lhuillier is committed to being there for our community, offering not just emergency support, but also compassion and aid when it is needed the most.”
The company also worked with barangay officials and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure the smooth distribution of goods and to assess further needs.
In the temporary evacuation center, ensuring that everyone stayed clean, healthy, and comfortable was a top priority. M Lhuillier’s timely intervention and ongoing support highlight the company’s dedication to the welfare of the communities it serves.
