Continuing their Pride season surge, Indie-pop band The Aces are back with a stunning visual for their queer heartbreak anthem, “Girls Make Me Wanna Die”. The single released on June 8th, days after the band debuted it for fans at WeHo Pride’s OUTLOUD Festival the weekend prior. The track was met with excitement, receiving praise from Billboard, Nylon, Teen Vogue, AutoStraddle, Audacy, The Line Of Best Fit, and setting the tone for the incredible year The Aces have in store. Like the inspiration behind the song, the “Girls Make Me Wanna Die” video storyline follows a young girl in the throes of unrequited love with her best friend. The Aces sought out to embody everything that experience has to offer in this official video; from the moments of hope to the devastating heartbreak that comes with a forbidden love.

The Aces explain, “This song lyrically tells such a descriptive story, we thought it would be a shame not to show visually. We wanted to articulate through the video what ‘Girls Make Me Wanna Die’ is really all about—unrequited love, specifically unrequited queer love; which can be so much more layered than someone simply not reciprocating your feelings. Casting two of our friends, one being from our hometown, felt really special because we share that experience of not being able to love freely as teenagers living in a conservative town. Together we show in this video the complexities of growing up queer in a place and time where being open about those feelings wasn’t an option.”

In honour of Pride month, The Aces also partnered with Apple Maps to highlight their favourite LGBTQIA owned or friendly places in Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and New York City. Fans can check out the bands’ Apple Maps Pride Guide here.

Having just finished their Pride Festival run, The Aces will join LA-based band Why Don’t We on their North American tour, which kicked off on July 27th. To keep up with The Aces, new music, and purchase tickets to catch them on tour, visit theacesofficial.com
