Pinoy music duo Bajula has finally dropped their new single “Bad Man,” a sultry jam that blends bedroom intimacy with lo-fi electronic soundscapes.
The track captures the intricacies that come with flirting and getting to know the other person romantically. According to Jolo “Frazier” Juatco, who penned and served mesmerizing vocals on top of smooth instrumentation, “Bad Man” represents one of the stages of a relationship.
“In terms of describing the actual song, Bad Man is about the internal battles of a reluctant pursuer towards a girl he likes,” Frazier explains. “The theme is kind of flirty but chill in terms of the instrumentation and arrangement.”
Alvin “Vertigo” Guanlao, who co-produced the track and added harmonies in the background, shares that “Bad Man” had undergone rigorous back-and-forth creative process before they eventually recorded it at Frazier’s home studio.
“The song was basically done when it comes to lyrics, arrangement and overall production when Frazier sent it to me, the falsetto style of singing accompanied with lyricism of subtle romantic desires paved its way to a sexy and soulful feel,” Vertigo said. “I’m also playing around with my vocal harmonizer at that time so I tried adding some backup vocals using it, and to our surprise, it added more personality and depth to the song.”

“Bad Man” is the second single off Bajula’s upcoming 2022album, Sensual Dance Club to be released sometime this year. Bringing back the “fun” in soul music, new record offers a sonically arresting music treat with influences that range from ‘90s R&B to New Jack Swing, ‘70s soul to modern electronica.
“Bad Man” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide.
