The COVID-19 vaccination roll-out in Las Piñas City remains fast-phased as the city aims to hit the immunity target on schedule by putting up more additional sites to accommodate the growing number of residents who wants to be vaccinated.
Las Piñas Vice Mayor April Aguilar said the city is committed to achieve the targeted 447,000 residents to be vaccinated out of the 600,000 plus population.
To date, some 211,274 or 27.1% has been vaccinated of categories A1 to A5 in 18 vaccination sites of the city’s 20 barangay, including three (3) malls and an events place. Vice Mayor Aguilar said two more vaccination sites will be put up in Barangay Manuyo Uno and Barangay Talon 5.
Of the current number of vaccinated residents, persons with co-morbidities or those belonging to Category A3 registered the highest number, followed by Category A4 or frontline and uniformed personnel; senior citizens or Category A2, with Category A1 or those in frontline health services, and Category A5 or indigent population.
The conduct of massive vaccination by the city was lauded by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Mindanao Affairs and Special Concerns Marjorie Jalosjos during a monitoring recently calling it “properly managed”.
Usec Jalosjos led a team from the local government department in its observation visit to various vaccination sites in the National Capital Region, where she noted the smooth conduct of inoculation, from registration to vaccination day.
Vice Mayor Aguilar likewise commended the doctors, nurses and health workers rendering duties at the vaccination sites for their dedication, to the extent of foregoing their rest day.
