The idea of juxtaposing the ‘old’ with the ‘new’ is very much at the heart of Salcedo Auctions’ upcoming auction ‘Finer Pursuits’ on Saturday 26 June 2021. The sale, which will feature a tightly curated selection of 200 lots across various categories such as significant modern & contemporary Philippine art, museum-grade tribal & ethnographic art, and rare furniture, ecclesiastical objects and other valuable collectibles caters to those who aren’t afraid to mix and match – seeing the charm in placing a 19th century etching next to an emotive Ang Kiukok, or maybe even a brash Manuel Ocampo.
“As much as we enjoy bringing people into our private abodes to show them the pieces that make us happy, at the end of the day, we’re the ones living with those pieces, not them,” Salcedo Auctions Managing Director, Victor Silvino shares. “Even though we’ve put a name to the different categories, at the end of the day, it’s the collector who chooses how he or she wants to place these pieces in their spaces. Which is only natural!”
The lineup is a reflection of that mindset, featuring works that stand out not just for the names of those who created them, but also for the hidden details or stories that set them apart from the rest.
To round off the collection, ‘Finer Pursuits’ will also be featuring a selection of rare, limited edition designer furniture pieces by Salcedo Auctions’ Modern & Contemporary Design Partner, CWC Interiors. The selection features all-time design favorites such as a brand new ‘The Eames La Chaise’ by Charles and Ray Eames, a Noguchi coffee table from the Herman Miller Collection, and a 75h Anniversary Limited Edition Eames LCW chair.
