Waves conquered as PUP welcomes the freshies at Kwentuhang BAPR 2023

The journey to discovering the creative and colorful realm of Advertising and Public Relations has finally docked at Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) College of Communication (COC) last October 9, 2023.

Spearheaded by the Advertising and Public Relations Organization of Students (ADPROS), along with all of the sections in sophomore, junior, and senior year, they welcomed the freshies in this year’s opening event titled Kwentuhang BAPR 2023: Diving into the Inside-Out Seacrets, with their warmest smiles and cheers and was made possible by Kelly Learn, Klik Media Group, and Bitestatique PH.

The loud applause and joy continuously spread in this comeback onsite Kwentuhan as students make their freshie walk in the connecting hallway, where there are booths to enjoy, to proceed in AVR. The event started with the opening remarks of the new adviser of ADPROS-Jhun Lacambra, and the enthusiastic hosts, Harley Palubon and Kier Jemuel Leya, hyped them to get their most active side.

During the first segment, Frances Miñoza-Accounts Manager at McCann Worldgroup Philippines Inc., and Stephanie Opu-an, a Client Executive at AS Creatives and Entertainment Inc. (Ant Savvy), motivated the students that if they are tired from all the academic work, they should rest to clear their mind so they can create a better big idea suitable for their campaigns.

Ms. Miñoza also advised the students that one of the keys to acing is to learn to ask and never assume. It was also the solution to communicating better.

“Always ask if there’s anything unclear, kasi it will help you understand better.”

Meanwhile, Neil Esteban, a Content Creator and Business Development Officer at SAGA PH, and Jerome Portera-Account Manager at Foodpanda suggest that enjoying and making friends is essential in balancing life as an ADPR student. Mr. Esteban also highlighted the camaraderie and bond each student will make in the industry.

“Magkakakilala lahat ng PUPian na ADPR. Every industry na related sa course natin for sure may ADPR na PUPian doon.”

Still, lots of connections come with the program, and one of the freshies also discussed their fun experience during the event. Sean Lee Pangilinan, a freshman from BAPR 1-3D, said that she enjoyed the experience mostly when the speakers shared tips to help them survive on this journey.

Indeed, the fun never ends and continues to flow as Gabriel Suniga, President of ADPROS, and the executive boards wrapped the event with a TikTok video and photo opportunity along with the freshies.

The end of this event is just the beginning of the freshman’s college life. But, they are now prepared to dive deeper into the world of ADPR as this Kwentuhan served as a bright idea on what waves they will face in the future and the flares of the sea they will eventually conquer. At last, the freshies are now welcome in the sea of secrets of the Advertising and Public Relations world.
