Brighten up your day with sweet treats from Guevarra’s by Chef Laudico.
When it comes to comfort food, chocolate tops the list. A taste of the best-selling Brigaderos Cake (P1,080) can lift your spirits. This dark chocolate cake, frosted and filled with truffle ganache and creamy dulce de leche is simply divine.
Chase the blues away with the Ube Macapuno Cake (P1,199) – the mere sight of which will surely cheer you up! This light and fluffy macapuno-filled chiffon cake with ube buttercream frosting is so pleasing to the eyes and the tummy that it’ll have you smiling all day after taking a bite.
There’s nothing like your favorite things to boost your good vibes. Made with layers of cashew meringue and buttercream topped off with fresh mangoes, the Mango Sansrival (P1,080) has everything you love.
The Brazo de Calamansi (P880) is so unique that it will instantly wipe away your glum with its layers of cake, calamansi curd, and torched meringue frosting.
“The flavor combinations are actually what we can call as tried-and-tested pairings like ube and macapuno, yema and chocolate. Cakes are usually enjoyed during celebrations and so we want flavors that are very relatable and memorable,” explains Chef Jac Laudico who helms the kitchen together with husband Chef Lau. “We try to make signature versions of classic Filipino desserts so flavors are still reminiscent of what we usually enjoy but with a more modern take to make it uniquely our own,” she adds.
For bite-sized goodness, try the Kalabasa Pastillas Balls (P99/6 pieces). These milk and squash candies rolled in sugar also make for excellent pasalubong. If you prefer something familiar, go for the Butterscotch Bars (P179/12 pieces).
